Life Updates: 2017

It has been a while since I posted anything on this blog. Although, I never consistently posted in the first place.

The original intention of this blog was intended to be a learning space. I needed to build a wordpress site to practice wordpress. I needed a reason to create designs to practice designs in Illustrator and Photoshop. When I first built the site, I anticipated it to be updates about projects I was currently working on. I had no intention of leaving 12 months later to travel and work remotely. But, then there was the added bonus that the name of the blog could work well for a blog to update family about travels!

When I first started this blog, I had just left college, shut down my first business attempt, turned my back on the banking career available to me, and moved to Boulder in pursuit of the startup dream.

Once I arrived to Boulder, it didn’t seem like I would get very far without any technical skills. I began taking Udemy and Lynda courses on everything from Illustrator to Javascript to Rails. I skimmed the surface of multiple subjects, struggling to find what I really wanted to do. I became frustrated with the assumption at male-dominated startup events that I worked in marketing based on my gender. Part of wanted to learn to code just to prove something to them.

But I persisted on. Now, where have I landed? Digital Marketing. That’s what I love. I enjoy the number crunching for different ad campaigns, I am excited by strategy creation, I enjoy the competition, against both competitors and myself, constantly trying to improve results. Digital marketing is an ever-changing field that keeps me on my toes.

I was first drawn to startups because I wanted to build something. Ever since I was a kid I was dreaming of new businesses and inventions. (I wish I still had a picture of the Pool Unicycle I built out of PVC pipe!)

So what am I building today?

I am building my own Digital Marketing consulting business, specializing in SEO, PPC, and Analytics. (Learn More about Digital Marketing Business).

I am currently based in Bali, Indonesia where I have been fortunate enough to surround myself by other inspiring location independent entrepreneurs.

In addition to my consulting business, I am testing new business ideas, launching content sites, and letting my entrepreneurial spirit take me where it feels inspired and alive. I don’t ever want to stop building or helping other entrepreneurs find their market.
